Places of power. The Hall-Wattens region

Places of power are special places: spiritual sites, cultural monuments and remarkable natural landscapes in the mountains and valleys. At these places of power, you can pause, linger and recharge your batteries. They inspire and tell stories – of the past and the present, of the transient and the eternal.

The 14 sites in the Hall-Wattens holiday region are carefully selected places of power. Every year, one or two new sites are added, gently expanding the list of these special places. Almost all of them are easily accessible on foot. Some of the sites are hidden and unexpected; some are obvious, whilst others are genuine hidden gems. But they all have one thing in common: they all offer a tangible contrast to everyday life.

Here, you can reflect, take a deep breath and find peace.

A place of healing. The Swiss stone pine trail on the Glungezer

The seven-kilometre-long Swiss stone pine trail runs above the Inn Valley through one of the largest stands of Swiss stone pine in Europe. The trail begins at the Patscherkofel mountain station and ends at the Tulfeinalm.

Powerful Place. The imperial clumn in Thaur

For more than 200 years, this landmark has been enthroned on the striking vantage point high above the village of Thaur. Several paths lead to this wonderful vantage point and place of power. One option is via the Halltal to the Törl and then out to the Kaisersäule.

Powerful Place. Place to the Three Oaks in Mils

Anyone taking a break on the wooden bench under the three trees will probably immediately notice that there are not three oak trees here. To be more precise, there are only two oaks and one ash.

Powerful Place. St. Martin's Monastery in Gnadenwald

It is obvious that St. Martin in Gnadenwald was chosen as one of our places of power. When you arrive there, you can already feel the special aura of this place.

Powerful Place. St. Magdalena im Halltal

This very special place in the Halltal valley - in the middle of the Karwendel Nature Park - was not chosen as one of our places of power for nothing. To reach this place of power, you first have to venture into a rugged, impressive valley.

Powerful Place. Lizumer Zirmweg in the Wattental valley

The Wattentaler Lizum (popularly known as the Wattener Lizum) is the eastern end of the Wattental valley, which branches off from the Unterinntal valley at Wattens.

Powerful Place. Bettelwurf in the Karwendel Mountains

The Bettelwurf is striking and instantly recognizable in the middle of the Karwendel mountains: an icon of limestone and rock. It is the greatest Powerful Place of all, the most powerful. Also the most impressive. A stone colossus, over 2700 meters high.

Powerful Place. Basilica of St. Mary in Absam

Absam owes its importance as a place of pilgrimage known far beyond Tyrol to the miraculous image of Our Lady, which appeared on the window pane of a house in Absam on January 17, 1797.

Powerful Place. Walderalm near Gnadenwald

It's no secret that the Walderalm is a very popular hike for young and old alike. The reason for this is obvious: different variants and levels of difficulty of the ascent, the fantastic location nestled in the Karwendel Nature Park and the excellent hospitality speak for themselves.

Powerful Place. Lake Mölssee in the Wattener Lizum

Although Lake Mölssee is the most difficult of our power spots to reach, it is impossible to escape its fascination. The clear water and mountain scenery do much to help you escape from everyday life and feel free and carefree.

The idyllic Romedikirchl church sits enthroned above the village of Thaur, not far from which are the castle ruins. You are in the Karwendel Nature Park.

Powerful Place. Schwarzbrunn in the Volder Valley

Schwarzbrunn in the far Voldertal valley is probably the least known of our power places in the Hall-Wattens region. But it is also one of the most beautiful and loneliest of them all.

Powerful Place. Himmelreich raethian settlement in Volders

When you visit the Rätersiedlung Himmelreich, you immediately realize why one of the first settlements in the Inn Valley was built here of all places. There were certainly strategic considerations behind this decision, but the power of this place cannot be denied.

Maria Larch is many things: first and foremost a wonderful 300-year-old place of power in the Hall-Wattens region. But Maria Larch is much more than that.
