Sculpture Trail. Mils
There are five new sculptures to admire along the walking trail in the Milser Forest, stretching from Mils towards Baumkirchen. Impressive, life-size wooden sculptures, carved by local sculptor Lukas Pittl, now adorn the sides of the path and add a natural touch to the walking route.
A witch, an eagle, a unicorn, a woodland fairy and a woodcutter have been created as part of the project and can now be admired whilst taking a stroll along the edge of the forest. The aim was to enhance the walking trail with elements inspired by nature.
Lukas Pittl, who lives in Mils, has already collaborated successfully on several projects with the Hall-Wattens Regional Tourism Association and was therefore the first choice for creating the sculptures. “My aim is always to create works with a soul of their own, where viewers can feel the emotion of the sculpture and interpret it in their own way,” explains Lukas Pittl. Other sculptures by the artist can also be found at various locations in the Hall-Wattens region, such as the ‘Jochfee’ at the summit of the Lafatscher Joch or the ‘Zwugl’ near the Halsmarter at Glungezer.
The Mils Sculpture Trail starts at the end of Haslachweg and runs for about one kilometre towards Baumkirchen along the edge of the forest and back again, with no change in altitude. It is suitable for pushchairs.
