Farmers’ markets and farm shops. In the region
From seasonal fruit and vegetables to meat and dairy products, local farmers offer a wide selection of Tyrolean produce all year round. The Hall-Wattens region is home to many small-scale, family-run farms, which are managed with great passion and in keeping with tradition.
Knowledge passed down through generations, careful and respectful stewardship of the landscape and animals, a commitment to high-quality food, and a genuine love for their work are undoubtedly key factors behind the farmers’ outstanding produce. Whether at a farmers’ market, an alpine cheese dairy or a farm shop, buying food directly from the producer (farm-gate sales) gives us, as consumers, the chance to get to know the producers personally. Questions about animal welfare, preparation or the product itself can be answered directly by the farmer on the spot. The freshness of the products, the reduced transport distance, the varied and distinctive flavours, and a fair price are further advantages of buying regional produce from a farm shop.
