Lively carnival celebrations, enchanting mountain bonfires and tranquil Advent markets are a reflection of traditions lovingly upheld. They are as diverse as the mountains and valleys of Tyrol.
In the Hall-Wattens region, there are some very special customs, such as the ‘Palmesel’ or the ‘Partisaner’, which are not found elsewhere in Tyrol.
Over the centuries, countless traditions and linguistic dialects have developed in Alpine Tyrol. To this day, many of them are kept alive with great dedication. With magnificent masks and costumes, for example, the carnival celebrations are marked with a level of exuberance rarely seen anywhere else. The solstice bonfires, a medieval custom, illuminate the rocky peaks and mountain slopes with the most beautiful patterns of flame. The cattle drives at the end of summer are a colourful spectacle, when magnificently adorned cattle, sheep and goats return to the valleys. And during the Christmas season, the Tyroleans and their children bring the year to a contemplative close at the enchanting Advent markets.
