Magical Rauhnächte. Rauhnacht guided tours
Take a journey through the mystical time between Christmas and New Year! A special tradition during the Christmas season in Tyrol and the Alpine region is “Räuchern” – or, as they so beautifully put it in the local dialect, “rachign gian”.
These twelve holy nights hold a particularly strong fascination for people. The Rauhnächte between Christmas and New Year are an exciting time! Many of us are familiar with sayings at Christmas or New Year such as “Don’t wash or hang out washing to dry” or “Keep the wheels still”. But what exactly is the significance of these? In keeping with this, the Hall-Wattens Regional Tourism Association is offering a very special Rauhnacht guided tour on this theme. During a walk of around 1.5 hours through Hall’s old town, the custom and its background will be explained in more detail. Afterwards, there will be a roughly 30-minute incense-burning seminar at the tourist board’s office. To be more precise, it is an introduction, as the practice of incense-burning itself – and the herbs and spices that can be placed on charcoal or a tea warmer – is so extensive that it would take a whole day to cover it all.
In any case, however, it is an atmospheric introduction to the topic of incense-burning during the Rauhnächte. We look forward to your visit!
