Geocaching is becoming increasingly popular and is the talk of the town! This modern form of scavenger hunt or treasure hunt provides the whole family incredible fun and makes a hike entertaining and exciting. Not that the natural surroundings in the Hall-Wattens region need any extra incentives, as the mountain scenery between the Karwendel and the Tux Alps speaks for itself. But on a geocaching tour, you can immerse yourself even more deeply in the wonderful landscape of our region. There are now a total of nine geocaching routes in the region – both in the valley and high up in the mountains. From short family walks to challenging power trails, there’s certainly something for everyone.
Geocaching involves using an outdoor GPS device, a GPS-enabled mobile phone or an app to search for geographical coordinates. A geocache is usually a waterproof container containing a logbook and, often, various small items to swap. Visitors can sign the logbook to record their successful find. The geocache is then hidden again in the same spot where it was found.
