Magical moments in the Tyrolean mountains: the new Alpine Pasture Star Walk

Six alpine pastures, two mountain ranges, an unforgettable mountain experience – the new “Almen Sternwanderung” links the alpine pastures of the Karwendel and the Tux Alps to create a complete experience for nature lovers and foodies. The walks set off from a central starting point, ensuring maximum convenience.

Diversity in a compact area: that is the hallmark of the Hall-Wattens region. With the new Alpine Pasture Star Walk, this contrast between the rugged limestone peaks of the Karwendel and the gentle mountain peaks of the Tux Alps can now be experienced in a special way.

“Our alpine pastures are far more than just refreshment stops; they are the heart of our alpine cultural landscape,” explains Martin Friede, Managing Director of Hall-Wattens Tourism. “With the Alpine Pasture Star Hike, we’re creating a common thread that links sporting activity, contrasting landscapes and genuine Tyrolean hospitality.”

Good to know: Almost all starting points are easily accessible by public transport or the mountain railway.

An overview of the six alpine hikes

The route takes you through two completely different mountain ranges and offers the perfect stage for every hiking preference – from a leisurely family walk to a challenging day’s hike:

Tulfeinalm (Tux Alps): Situated at over 2,000 metres, this rustic alpine hut offers breathtaking views of the Karwendel massif opposite and is the perfect starting point for the famous Zirbenweg trail.
Largozalm (Tux Alps): A real hidden gem for those seeking peace and quiet. The rustic wooden huts of the Largozalm nestle idyllically on the slopes above Volders, surrounded by fragrant Swiss stone pine forests.
Steinkasernalm (Tux Alps): Nestled deep in the wild and romantic Voldertal valley, this alpine pasture captivates with its unspoilt charm. Here, the alpine snack tastes twice as good.
Thaurer Alm & Kaisersäule (Karwendel): After the climb to the Thaurer Alm, the short walk to the monumental Kaisersäule rewards you with a majestic view down into the Inn Valley and the Stubai and Zillertal Alps.
Walderalm & Walderjoch (Karwendel): Situated on a vast high plateau above Gnadenwald, the Walderalm offers a unique panoramic view of the Karwendel. The flat alpine meadows around the Walderjoch are a paradise for families.
St. Magdalena in the Halltal (Karwendel): A historical gem. The former hermitage and place of pilgrimage in the heart of the Halltal valley not only offers a place to pause for thought, but also invites visitors to linger, drawing on its spiritual power as well as its traditional alpine inn.
