The Walderalm is situated in a beautiful landscape at 1511 metres above sea level. In summer the alp is almost accessible by car: From Gnadenwald the toll road leads up to the Hinterhornalm. From the car park there it is a 30-minute walk along a forest path to the Walderalm.
Hikers either come from Gnadenwald along Abürzerwege (abürzer paths), also via the Hinterhornalm to the Walderalm. However, there are more frequent hikes on the path from the Gunggl district (also Gnadenwald) up to the Walderalm. Another hiking trail (partly forest road, then uphill) leads from Terfens, district Umlberg via the Walderalm. Very popular with mountain bikers is the mountain bike tour via Ganalm, Walderalm, Hinterhornalm in both directions. The Walderalm is particularly suitable for excursions and for a break. There is also a chapel in the immediate vicinity of the Walderalm. The location of the alp directly under the Hundskopf and with the Huderbankspitze and Hochnissl in the background is breathtaking. The people of Innsbruck also appreciate this and use the Walderalm as an excursion destination into nature.
