Situated at the foot of the Alpenpark Karwendel Nature Reserve , the little village of Gnadenwald captivates visitors with its stunning scenery and a wide range of sporting activities. The Karwendel offers hiking and mountain tours, and of course you can also explore the largest and oldest Tyrolean nature reserve by mountain bike to explore Tyrol’s largest and oldest nature reserve. The panoramic Hundskopf, with its via ferrata, and the idyllic Walderalm are unique destinations for mountain enthusiasts. Gnadenwald is the ideal starting point for tours of this unique natural landscape. The ‘Adlerblick 1522’ wildlife observation station at the Hinterhornalm promises some special mountain experiences. Here, up to 96 species of breeding birds can be observed in their natural habitat. Speaking of eagles: the Adlerweg, Tyrol’s main hiking trail, also passes through Gnadenwald, as does the Way of St James.
Even in winter, sports enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy in this cosy Tyrolean village: cross-country skiers can make their mark on 10 kilometres of trails, and a particularly family-friendly toboggan run rounds off the winter fun. But it’s not just the natural surroundings that make a holiday in Gnadenwald a special experience: numerous local clubs ensure a varied calendar of events throughout the year.
