The world’s longest Swiss stone pine bench. With views across two valleys
The world’s longest Swiss stone pine bench measures an impressive 55 metres – this new, whimsical yet imposing seat is perched atop the Schartenkogel in the Hall-Wattens holiday region. Now the world’s longest Swiss stone pine bench, it can seat up to 100 people. Thanks to its clever positioning, this extraordinary Swiss stone pine bench offers views in both directions – towards the Inn Valley and the Voldertal. At 2,311 metres above sea level, you can enjoy a lovely picnic and the view whilst sitting on the bench.
The bench was built by the Speckbach Rifle Company of Tulfes. “Many hard-working and creative comrades lent a hand to make the world’s longest Swiss stone pine bench a reality,” reports Manfred Arnold, chairman of the Tulfes Rifle Company. A varied circular walking route from the Glungezerbahn mountain station leads, after 2.2 km, to the world’s longest Swiss stone pine bench on the Schartenkogel and, after a further 2.4 km, back via the idyllic Zirbensee. The route involves a 300-metre climb. After just one hour’s walk, you reach the spectacular view from the summit of the Schartenkogel. There, the new, world’s longest Swiss stone pine bench awaits walkers, offering exceptional panoramic views of the Inn Valley, the Karwendel Mountains, the Voldertal and the Tux Alps.
+8The Glungezer boasts one of the largest stands of Swiss stone pine in the whole of Europe, as well as the oldest tree in Tyrol. This is also a Swiss stone pine, over 750 years old. The bench was deliberately crafted from the popular Swiss stone pine wood. Swiss stone pine and its essential oils are said to have healing properties and to help calm the heartbeat. This makes the new Swiss stone pine bench the perfect spot for a relaxing break.
