Town Museum. Hall in Tirol

The Haller Stadtmuseum’s collection contains numerous exhibits relating to the town’s history. Of particular art-historical significance are the showpieces from the Waldauf collection (such as the two altar panels from the altar of the Waldauf Chapel in Hall’s parish church, attributed to Marx Reichlich, a pupil of Pacher) and from Hall’s Baroque past (the Convent of Our Lady and the Jesuit Church). Numerous townscapes bear witness to Hall’s historical significance and the changing times.

Since 1933, the Town Museum had been housed in what is now the Town Hall Café on the Upper Town Square, under the auspices of the ‘Alt-Hall’ Museum Association. In the 1960s, it was reorganised by, amongst others, Hofrat Dr Hans Hochenegg. Under the direction of the Cultural Affairs Officer Dr Leopold Wagner and the art historian Dr Henry Quintern, the museum moved to Hasegg Castle between 1977 and 1979.

As part of the Interreg project REVITA (in partnership with the twin town of Klausen), new premises for the Town Museum at Hasegg Castle were converted, renovated and restored between 2010 and 2013. The premises are already being used for the City Museum’s current exhibitions and events. The refurbishments form part of an overall concept to expand the cultural use of Hasegg Castle.
