Curling, also known as ice curling or simply curling, is a sport that is particularly popular in the Alpine region and bears a certain resemblance to curling. Nevertheless, curling has its own distinct character and should be regarded as a sport independent of curling. Ice stock sport is an ancient folk sport and, historically speaking, can be classified as a traditional custom that spread only in areas with bodies of water that freeze over and was played only in winter. In its modern form as a leisure or competitive sport, governed by rules and organised by clubs, it is played all year round, with a distinction made between team, distance and target competitions.
In the Hall-Wattens region, this popular folk sport can be practised at the Guggerinsel local recreation area in Hall.
Stocksportbahn at the Marktanger during the Hall Advent Market
As well as the ice rink, there is now also a curling rink at the Haller Advent Market. The new curling rink is available at the Marktanger, directly behind the town hall, for sporting activities or a sociable time. The synthetic rink measures 16 by 2 metres and is ideal for both the classic team game and the popular ‘Lattlschießen’ (a traditional game involving shooting a wooden disc through a ring). Eight sticks, two junior sticks, the target and, on request, a Lattl stand are provided.
How much does it cost to use the rink?
Use of the rink costs 15 euros per half-hour.
How do I make a booking?
Bookings can be made easily via the online calendar. Once your booking has been made, the invoice will be sent by email; payment must be made in advance. Once payment has been received, cancellation is no longer possible.
When collecting the poles, a deposit of 50 euros will be collected on site.
A cosy food stall right on the Marktanger will be providing refreshments.
Guggerinsel Hall in Tyrol

The tarmac track is used as an ice rink in winter – subject to availability!

The venue is also available for corporate or private events. The cost is always €3.00 per person. Beginners will be given an introduction to the sport.

Rum near Innsbruck
The Römerpark sports complex in Rum is situated not far from Hall in Tirol and offers excellent sporting facilities, including curling.
The sports complex is set within a 5,000 m² park featuring a pond area, an artificial turf pitch and a spacious play and rest area. Five lanes are available for curling in both summer and winter. An artificial ice rink has been open in winter since 1998.

Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 6.30 pm to 10.00 pm
Opening hours for the tarmac pitch:
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 6.30 pm to 10.00 pm

Costs for guests:
Stick hire fee: €2.50 per evening
An additional €2.50 per person for artificial ice sessions
