Press release. Swiss stone pine days on the Glungezer

Long live the Swiss stone pine! The Swiss stone pine is also known as the ‘Queen of the Alps’ – but it certainly reigns supreme on the Glungezer. Like no other tree, the Swiss stone pine has shaped the mountain landscape for centuries. Not only the tree itself, but also products made from Swiss stone pine, such as Swiss stone pine wood and Swiss stone pine schnapps, feature prominently on the mountain. Here, where Central Europe’s largest Swiss stone pine forest is located and the characteristic scent of Swiss stone pine is ever-present in the air, is the ideal place to celebrate Tyrol’s Swiss Stone Pine Days.

From 30 June to 2 July 2023, visitors can look forward to a varied programme centred on the Swiss stone pine. Alongside hikes, forest bathing, yoga and readings, the Swiss stone pine market on Saturday 1 July is one of the highlights of the Swiss Stone Pine Days in Tulfes. There will be live music at the mountain huts.

The ‘Kugelwald am Glungezer’ mountain adventure park offers fun and games in the great outdoors for the whole family, separate from the main programme. As well as rolling Swiss stone pine balls and varied ball tracks, this wooden adventure world features a DIY area, various activity stations and a relaxation area complete with a viewing platform. The low ropes course and the disc golf course around the middle station also provide entertainment on the mountain for older children.

Nature lovers can take a leisurely hike along the Swiss stone pine trail above the Inn Valley through one of Europe’s oldest stands of Swiss stone pine. Breathtaking views and the scent of Swiss stone pine make for a dreamlike hike in the high mountains.
