Press release. Swiss Stone Pine Days on the Glungezer 2022

Long live the Swiss stone pine! The Swiss stone pine is also known as the ‘Queen of the Alps’ – but it certainly reigns supreme on the Glungezer. Like no other tree, the Swiss stone pine has shaped the mountain landscape for centuries. Not only the tree itself, but also products made from it, such as Swiss stone pine timber and Swiss stone pine schnapps, are well represented on the mountain. Here, where Central Europe’s largest Swiss stone pine forest is located and the characteristic scent of the Swiss stone pine is ever-present in the air, is the ideal place to celebrate Tyrol’s Swiss Stone Pine Days.

From 8 to 10 July 2022, visitors can look forward to a varied programme centred on the Swiss stone pine. Alongside hikes, forest bathing, yoga and readings, the Swiss stone pine market on Saturday and a talk on ‘The Power of the Swiss Stone Pine’ on Sunday are among the highlights of the Swiss Stone Pine Days in Tulfes. There will be live music at the mountain huts.

As part of the Swiss stone pine days, the Hall section of the Alpine Club will open Austria’s first legendary via ferrata, ‘Der Glungezer Riese’.

The “Kugelwald am Glungezer” mountain adventure park offers fun and games in the great outdoors for the whole family, separate from the main programme. As well as rolling Swiss stone pine balls and varied ball tracks, this wooden adventure world features a DIY area, various activity stations and a relaxation area complete with a viewing platform. A low ropes course has been added to the Kugelwald this summer.

Nature lovers can enjoy a leisurely hike along the Swiss stone pine trail above the Inn Valley through one of Europe’s oldest stands of Swiss stone pine. Breathtaking views and the scent of Swiss stone pine make for a wonderful hike in the high mountains.
