Start of the winter season on the Glungezer. Press release

The Glungezerbahn ski resort opens for the winter season on 8 December 2023, offering not only skiers a varied range of slopes to enjoy, but also tobogganists and winter walkers, who can make the most of the winter activities and the spectacular views on the mountain.

Fun on the slopes at Glungezer

Perfectly groomed slopes, stunning panoramic views and the comfortable combined lift: this is the stuff winter sports dreams are made of. Tulfer’s local mountain is one of the most scenic in the country – offering breathtaking views of the Karwendel massif opposite and stretching far into the Inn Valley. The pleasantly compact Glungezer ski area is particularly popular with leisure skiers, ski tourers and families with children.
The ski touring evenings are back again this winter: every Tuesday and Thursday, the gondola lift runs up to the midway station until 10.15 pm.

Certified family ski resort

The Glungezerbahn in the Hall-Wattens region is represented this year for the first time in the ‘Tyrolean Family Ski Regions’ group and has been officially certified as a family ski resort. Young snow lovers can practise their first turns in the lovingly designed Kinderland, on gentle slopes and in child-friendly ski lessons run by the Total Ski School, which is also certified.

Winter walking at over 1,500 metres above sea level

Winter walking is the perfect complement to skiing: there are two superbly maintained high-altitude winter walking trails on the Glungezer. The Halsmarter Panorama Trail offers an immersive winter experience: whilst hiking at over 1,500 metres above sea level, you’ll hear nothing but the crunch of snow beneath your feet as you immerse yourself in a dreamlike, snow-covered alpine landscape.
The view of over 400 Alpine peaks in the Tux Alps and the Karwendel Mountains is an unrivalled experience.

Panoramic toboggan run for winding fun off the slopes

The “Tulfein Express” takes tobogganists from the Halsmarter midway station up to 2,000 metres above sea level. Fun guaranteed, whatever the snow conditions! The descent takes you back down to the midway station over a distance of more than 3.5 kilometres and ten hairpin bends. As well as special, attractive tickets for tobogganists, there is also a toboggan hire service right at the midway station.
