Klumpern. Tyrol
Once a week, the Klumperspaß takes place in Tulfes. The ultimate skiing experience and great fun for young and old alike!
The best bit is: you don’t need to be a top-class athlete. Children, parents and even grandparents whizz down the gentle slope and show off the skills they’ve learnt in the slalom race.
Our ‘Klumperspaß’ event is held every Friday from late December to early March in Tulfes from 7.00 pm. Locals and visitors are equally welcome, regardless of their ability – from beginners to pros. It promises fun and entertainment for everyone taking part!

Following a visit to the 1972 Luge World Championships in Olang (South Tyrol), visitors from Tulf noticed a rather unusual sled which the locals called a “Rennböckele”. This was a sort of single-runner sled. An iron rail was attached beneath the support board, with a wooden seat mounted across it. The people of Tulfes were so taken with it that they built a replica at home.
As nobody could remember the actual name of this winter sports contraption, the people of Tulfes simply coined the term “Klumper” for it. And in the very same year, the “Klumperverein Tulfes” was founded. Shortly afterwards, the people of Tulfes replaced the original iron rail with a ski, and this form of the Klumper is still in use today.
