Autumn in the mountains brings a magnificent display of colours to the natural world and creates a special sense of mystique. There are many hidden treasures to be found in the Tyrolean holiday region of Hall-Wattens, which exude a unique atmosphere and charm in autumn.
Recharge your batteries at the Mölssee, a place of healing energy: Crystal-clear water surrounded by stunning mountain scenery creates a natural haven of tranquillity. Mölssee is tucked away in the Wattener Lizum in the Tux Alps and, despite being at an altitude of 2,280 metres above sea level, is home to char and carp. The cold, clear water, which flows from an underground spring, provides the perfect habitat for the fish. A circular walking route from the Wattental valley via the Mölser Scharte to the Lizumer Hütte is the perfect autumn hike, rounding off with a stop for culinary delights.
‘Haller Freudenfeuer’ Medieval Festival: Hall in Tyrol, with its historic charm, is the perfect setting for a medieval-themed festival. From a tent camp and an authentic market to music and dancing, the Freudenfeuer enchants its guests in Hall’s old town. For three days, the small, hidden alleyways are transformed into a lively and colourful hub of activity with a children’s programme, performing groups and, of course, the huge bonfire on the Upper Town Square. From 4 to 6 October, Hall in Tirol transports its visitors back to the year 1500.
Geocaching routes: The caches on a total of 9 geocaching routes in the Hall-Wattens region are also well hidden amongst the natural surroundings. Armed with a GPS device, you can hike through the colourful forests and use the coordinates to find the hidden logbooks. This turns autumn walks into an exciting adventure for explorers of all ages.
Take a seat at the Lumperer organic farm: Autumn is renowned for its culinary diversity and, alongside the regular farmers’ markets in Hall and Wattens, there are other delicious providers tucked away in the region. One such place is the ‘Nimm Platz’ pop-up restaurant at the Lumperer Organic Farm. Here, you can enjoy the food right where it’s grown, prepared by the very hands that helped to produce it. You can’t get a fresher or more authentic regional dining experience – a real hidden gem, open until 31 October.
