Haller. Street theatre

The Haller Gassenspiele 2026 will take place from 4 to 31 July. The play being performed is “Campiello” by Peter Turrini, a real crowd-pleaser. The Gassenspiele are returning to their original format and will take place in the open air at Hasegg Castle.

A comedy about quarrelling, friendship and the longing for love.
Shameless, wild and heart-wrenchingly funny, this new comedy tells the story of strong women, broken hearts and the irrepressible desire for closeness. A dedicated ensemble of eleven actors and actresses brings the play to life on stage with all their might – through acting, singing and pieces of music specially composed for the production by Alexander Sackl.

Tickets will be available from 4 June on the following website www.gassenspiele.at

Haller Street Theatre Festival 2025

Once a year, during the summer months of July and August, a selected square or alleyway in Hall becomes the stage for an ensemble of experienced amateurs and dedicated professionals who perform theatre featuring plenty of music. In 2026, the inner courtyard of Hasegg Castle will once again be the venue for this performance. Alexander Sackl, founder and artistic director of the Haller Gassenspiele, will take on the roles of director and composer. The lyrics of the songs incorporated into the play are created – unless they already exist – based on the source material. To date, the lyrics have been written twice by Thomas Gassner and cabaret artist Markus Koschuh.

The Haller Gassenspiele are thematically dedicated to comedy and folk theatre. Their style of performance is inspired by the Commedia dell’Arte.

Since their foundation in 2011, the Haller Gassenspiele have been performed at many different locations throughout the picturesque old town. Schmiedtorgasse, the eastern square of Hall’s parish church, Bachlechnerplatz, Hasegg Castle, Stiftsplatz, the school playground of NMS Europa and the courthouse in Hall have all served as stages. Should the weather not cooperate, there is an alternative venue for inclement weather every year.

In 2012, the Haller Gassenspiele were awarded the first Tyrolean People’s Theatre Prize.
