Early in the mountains: The new ‘Good Morning’ runs on the Glungezer

Taking the gondola up the mountain at 6.00 am. It’s not something you do every day. That’s exactly why it stays in your memory.
With the new ‘Good Morning’ trips on the Glungezer, the cable car starts running as early as 5.30 am on selected Thursdays. I was there myself and took the gondola up early in the morning. It was quiet. Very quiet. There wasn’t much going on down in the valley yet, but up on the mountain the day lay fresh and new before us.
Even as you’re going up, you realise that this trip is different. No hustle and bustle, no long waits, no rush.

When the mountain slowly comes to life

Once at the top, it was still quiet. The paths were empty, the air pleasantly cool, and the sun was slowly emerging from behind the mountains. I even saw a hare hopping past. Just a brief moment, but it’s precisely these little things that make an early morning on the mountain so special.
Those who usually don’t set off up the Glungezer until later get to experience the mountain from a different perspective on these ‘Good Morning’ runs. It’s much quieter and more mindful.

Yoga in the Mountains

One special feature of the ‘Good Morning’ walks is yoga in the mountains. It’s particularly well suited to the early morning. Your body slowly wakes up, the surroundings are peaceful and the crisp mountain air does you good.
You don’t need to be a yoga expert to take part. It’s not about performance, but about getting the day off to a good start. The exercises are done at a comfortable pace. This allows you to settle in, move your body and start the morning mindfully.
After the early ascent, yoga in the mountains is a lovely way to hold onto that sense of tranquillity for a little longer. Afterwards, the day immediately feels a bit easier.

Morning nature walk

The nature walk is also perfect at this time of day. In the early morning, the mountain is quite different. It is quieter, animals are more likely to be out and about, and you become more aware of the plants, the light and the sounds around you.
The guided tour focuses on precisely these little details. What grows by the wayside? Which animals live here? Why is the mountain habitat so special?
This is particularly fascinating for visitors who are already familiar with the Glungezer.

Breakfast with a view

After an early ascent, a yoga session or a nature walk, breakfast is, of course, a must. A mountain breakfast rounds off the morning. With a view of the valley, that first coffee tastes even better. And so, the early drive turns into a leisurely mountain experience.
