Medieval Bonfire Hall. Press release

The legendary Middle Ages also included joyful moments, which are revived at the "Bonfire": From 7 to 9 October 2022, the bright and colorful times will take center stage in Hall in Tirol.

"Bonfires were the forerunners of our town festivals. They were festivities more or less ordered by the town on special occasions. Fires were actually lit in a wooden barrel, usually in the upper town square. On this occasion, music was played and there was lively dancing. Wine was served and confectionery was served. In the period around 1500, the latter was still a specialty.

Tent camps, historical techniques and delicacies from times gone by

In addition to the "bonfire" on the Upper Town Square, the three-day event in Hall offers much more: in the tent camp in the Abbey Gardens, groups of actors live out everyday life in authentically recreated tents. They wear costumes and use objects from the period. Craftsmen demonstrate their skills using historical techniques. Visitors can obtain information and marvel at numerous demonstrations. For the little ones, there is a special children's program with lots of fun and games in the Old Town Park. They can experience the world of children in the Middle Ages.

Music and dance are as important today as they were then: Music and dance groups perform at various events. Musicians also play all over the Old Town.

A medieval market is a must in the historic market town of Hall. The stalls sell spices, herbs, healing stones, jewelry, incense, clothing and toys for little knights and damsels.

The best crossbow shooter will be sought at the historic shooting range. The prize is a walking archery chain. The last shooter receives the golden sausage!

The highlight of the festival is the "bonfire" on Saturday evening.
As in days long past, a fire will blaze in the barrel on the upper town square. There will be music and dancing. Together with the dance groups, every guest can then dare to dance around the "Haller Freudenfeuer".
