Smooth and full-bodied – a Tyrolean speciality. Distilling schnapps is one of Tyrol’s culinary traditions. Get a close-up and experience the fascination of how fruit is transformed into a fine distillate on Tyrol’s schnapps tour. A special programme about fine schnapps and the Tyrolean schnapps tour was even broadcast on Austrian television.

In the Tyrol, it is a tradition for many farms to nurture the know-how, take the time and lovingly distil their own schnapps. Distilling is an important pillar of business in the province. About five million kilograms of fruit is used per year to produce a wide array of schnapps in farm distilleries.

International prizes and awards bear testimony to the fact that Tyrol’s distillers rank among the world’s best. Visitors to the Tyrol appreciate the importance attached to top quality and variety. Combined with all the other specialities produced by Tyrolean farmers in small businesses on a regional scale, schnapps adds the finishing touches to a culinary offering that can only be enjoyed in the mountain province.
