Kugelwald at the Glungezer

Biggest wooden outdoor ball run facility in the world
In 2021, the Alpine Club of Hall in Tyrol completely renovated the via ferrata on the Glungezer along the existing route and significantly extended it. In the future, the via ferrata will also be used as a teaching, learning and training via ferrata. In the boulder terrain, the most diverse levels of difficulty were planned - from easy ("Category A") to difficult ("Category C"), all requirements, such as short and long steep climbs, ridge intersections, chimney passages and also a rope bridge are included.
The via ferrata starts above the Zirbensee and for the height difference of 400 meters a total ascent time of 2.5 hours is needed. 10 minutes from the exit is the Glungezerhütte, which invites you to stop and linger!
In order to do justice to the rich treasure trove of legends surrounding the Glungezer, striking places have been named with terms from the legend of the "Glungezer giant". The trail begins with a climbing practice slab and then leads to various passages such as the "King's Balcony", the "Princess's Crown" or the "Magic Wall". For children there is a folder about the legend of the Glungezer giant in connection with the via ferrata passages designed.
For the total height difference of 400 meters, an ascent time of about 2.5 hours is to be expected; at the end of the via ferrata, after only a 10-minute walk, you reach the Glungezerhütte, which invites you to stop and linger.
The climibing route is designed for children aged 8 years or older. Please be aware of wearing and carrying the correct equipment during the ascent.
